I have 5 awesome pets – 2 chinchillas, a guinea pig, and 2 super cute dogs. I’ll highlight my 3 other pets soon, but I feel like talking about my doggies.
About 2 years ago, we got Tennant. We got Tennant from a shelter in Tulsa. His previous owners were going to sell him, because their Boston Terrier was picking on him. The shelter lady found out that they were going to sell him to be the companion dog to their pit bull…. Yeah. That wouldn’t have ended well. The shelter lady offered to pay more for him, and find him a more fitting family. We’re glad that she did!
We named him after one of our favorite actors, David Tennant – who played the 10th Doctor on Doctor Who. Our boy doggy is super hyper, but still super snuggly. He’ll turn 3 in a little less than a month (May 4th – Star Wars Day! How creepy is that?!) He is obsessed with shiny things and light. Seriously! When it’s fall, and we have our back door open (we have a screen door), Tennant will go stand back there, then catch the light reflecting off his collar. He’ll jump forward to eat it, and then when it disappears, he’ll step back, so it reflects again. He seriously spends hours doing that. He’s insane.
Then, last July, we got Rhiannon. Rhiannon was found wandering in southern Oklahoma. She was in really rough shape, and it took about a month before they would even consider spaying her. The vet said that she’d had a lot of puppies, and was probably a mom at a puppy mill. When she got too old, they probably just kicked her out =(
She was full of ticks when we got her (my dad spent 2 hours pulling almost 60 ticks out of her!), and when we took her to the vet a little over a week later, we found out that her ears were full of ticks. POOR GIRL! She had big bald patches too, and her fur was a really rough texture.
Now, however, after months of healthy eating, exercise, and lots of snuggling time, she is SO much better! She’s really like a different dog. She still has her super sweet temperament and her cute little puppy face. Our vet guesses that she’s probably about 10 years old, almost 11. We named her Rhiannon, because it’s a Welsh name. I love Welsh names =D
A funny thing that Rhiannon does is that when I get up in the mornings and come to say good morning to them, I’ll kneel down, and Rhiannon will start burrowing her head really hard into my stomach. I’m not really ticklish, but it tickles so much when she does that. Tennant has starting doing it too, so I’ll have 2 dogs viciously snuggling with me. I LOVE IT!
Both of our dogs are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – the breed nicknamed ‘The Love Sponge’. If you’ve met a Cavalier, you start to understand that nickname!
So, in parting, here’s some pictures of my sweet puppies:
I LOVE MY DOGS!
